The beer has been bottled. It seems to have finished fermentation as I hadn’t seen any air escaping from the airlock in 2 days. But from what I gathered, wheat tends to ferment pretty quickly. The alcohol content might be a little low though.

Original Gravity – 1.052
Final Gravity – 1.018

Gives it about a 4.6%. This may go up a bit though while finishing in the bottle. But the taste test seemed to be a good indication that the product is coming along with out any other hitches. Had a nice sweet, banana-like aroma and a hint of citrus.

It filled 46 bottles (plus one plastic soda bottle as a carbonation indicator). So now to just let it sit there for 2 weeks or so.

Any suggestions on what I might try next?

Two posts in one day?

Well golly gee Mary-Lou!

Yup. Just had to share this.

I bought my first home brewers kit today. I’ve wanted one for quite awhile but just never got to doing it. But after having watched Beer Wars, I said Screw The Man! and bought my own.

Now i’m not by any means going to stop supporting my local breweries, but learning that a particular company has over 30 brands of micro’s (which are actually macro’s) just to push out the small guy, decided that’s that.

So I think I will start doing log entries about how it goes.

First off, i’m going to make a Hefe (wheat) beer. I will be using the pre-packaged kit so I can learn the basics first off.

So off to the kitchen.

This update brought to you by Folgers. The Best Part of Wakin’ up.

Not really, but that’s what i’m drinking in any case.

So things seemed to have been picking up lately at work, which is a good thing. It means people are finally starting to spend money again. Which of course will die a bit again when all these new taxes kick in from the regime in Olympia. And lets not even think about the impact this will have on small business. Three friends that have their own small business are now worried because of the hiked B&O tax.

But I digress.

Speaking of work, I’m glad I only have to do on-call 2-3 times a year. Being on-call tires you quite a bit. Not only working your normal hours, but then running trouble calls at night and not getting home until midnight, only to get back up at 5:30 wears on you pretty fast. Meg says I become an ass when i’m overly tired. But then again, she say’s i’m an ass all the time. *shrugs*

Anywho, we’ve gone to Muckleshoot a few times now to play Bingo! and have had fun. Tried my hand at two cards and it was rather difficult considering the caller for some reason felt he needed to speed the games along. Even the people that live in the bingo hall were having trouble keeping up with their normal 4 cards.

Updates:
Movies – None (didn’t have time with on-call and some other things going on lately)

Music – Ever had a song stuck in your head for a day? Try for 5 days straight! Jet City Woman – Queensryche But I’ve been digging on http://www.kingcitysf.com/flash_radio/index.html lately. Loved their music after seeing them in concert with Cake. Its just really fun music and you can tell they have fun playing it! Makes it all the more enjoyable.

Games – Still doing Borderlands

Books –
Just finished up with with Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Great book and leaves you wanting more. Available in Paperback or from Aubible.com

polo!

I know, its been a month. Haven’t really been doing much actually, so its why I haven’t posted. And some the stuff I’d like to post about would actually be an invite for some flaming. Politics, both state and federal.

Anywho. Been just playing Borderlands and the new Arcade on the 360.

Also went and saw Alice but I don’t feel its really worth talking about. My personal opinion, the best part of the whole movie was the credits, where the plants/fungi were growing.

No, didn’t goto Pax East, and I was actually ‘grumpy’ (as my wife put it) that weekend. But good news is, Pax Prime is coming! Click on that link for news and to order your badges now! If you don’t, they will sell out fast, and you won’t get one.

Lastly, i’ve now been using Audible.com for a year and a half and can’t recommend this enough. As a book worm, i’ve found that with work, marriage, and other obligations, it has become harder to be able to read as much. So I had started using Audible and highly suggest you take a look at it yourself. You get 1-2 books per month with your plan, which are yours to keep and can be put onto many different devices.

I think I will start doing picks with my posts and as my first one, I would like to recommend Daemon by Daniel Suarez, narrated by Jeff Gurner.

And as a special offer: Try Audible Now and Get A Free Audiobook Download with a 14 Day Trial. Choose from over 75,000 Titles. The book is yours to keep for free with no obligation as long as you cancel within 14 days. But I don’t think you will, its an amazing service.
